Born in Sicily but raised in the United States, I've always been fascinated at the health and lifestyle of my own family. My Nonna is still alive at 92 and is in better shape than some of my young clients here in New York City.

People who live in regions of the world like Italy and Greece are known for living longer than those who live elsewhere. Those residing in these Mediterranean regions also tend to contract fewer chronic diseases, like heart problems. That’s why so many, experts and non-experts alike, claim this diet is one of the best you can try. One of the key pillars of the Mediterranean Detox is that it is not a restrictive diet. While leading healthy lives with regular exercises, Mediterranean’s enjoy a wide range of different foods including yogurt, fish, poultry whole grains, fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, olives, and olive oil along with some cheeses.
